What do you think of pickled or fermented products without vinegar?[ 4 votes ]
1. It has no vinegar so its okay to eat 2 / 50%
2. Not sure or cannot answer 1 / 25%
3. Don't eat it, even if the product doesn't have vinegar 1 / 25%

I'm talking about something like this

If you didn't know traditional sauerkraut doesn't contain vinegar. The one with vinegar is actually Quick Sauerkraut, proper sauerkraut takes a long time to make, quick sauerkraut uses vinegar to give it an acidic taste which takes time to naturally develop. Manufacturers obviously prefer the quick way.

I've heard that it's ok but I don't remember the reasons why. I guess give the food a try and if it doesn't cause any stomach upset then you're good to go.

Edit: That said, I'm mildly suspicious of fermented food in general. I guess it may just be my preference for fresh/freshly cooked foods.

Yes but what about the natural occurrence of alcohol in fermented products?
