The Bible talks about fasting. The prophets all fasted. The disciples fasted. Christians don't have much discussion about fasting.
Fasting is probably the least talked about of any Christian duty. But, it might be one of the most important things we can do.

I have learned that many of the verses about fasting have been taken out of the "New Age Bibles", so fasting must be very important, for Satan to try keeping it from us.

Matthew 6:16
Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. (This verse says, "When ye fast", not if ye fast. We are expected to fast.)

Fasting & prayer are often mentioned together. I'd like to learn more about it. Maybe others would also.
How to fast. Types of fasting. Reasons for fasting. How often should we fast?

Thank you for any informative replies.

Hello Arthur,

I am very happy to see your post and couldn't agree with you More. I too have been having those same thoughts, so I have been studying and researching the topic. I am presently putting together scripture passages and SOP quotes that will shed light on yours as well as my questions on the types, reason for, and how often we should fast. Prayer and Fasting are mentioned together for a reason. To be blunt Fasting with out sincere Prayer would put one in the category of a Hypocrite. I hope to have it all together soon. Its nice to know I'm not the only one with these thoughts and questions.

Thank you Mel.
I look forward to the completion of your research.
I believe that most of the knowledge of proper fasting has been lost.
It must be vitally important in these last days.
