"A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven." John 3:27.

This verse applies to all men. It applies to the breath we need to live. Thus, because all is of God, we need Him to be alive and to do anything.

If any nonbeliever says that he does not need God, one may tell him that he needs God if he is even breathing, or alive. If he still tries to deny that he needs God, ask him whether he is in complete control of his breathing. If he says yes, ask him to stop breathing, for if he is in full control of his breathing, he can do this.

He will not be able to do it. Even if he were to hold his breath for so long that he passes out, he would resume breathing while unconscious. Thus he is not in full control of his breathing; God is. God is the One on whom he relies to breathe. It is God who has his breath and who gives it to him. This is clearly seen in this simple test that can be carried out anywhere, anytime.

"Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God." Isaiah 50:10.

I used to think I could do things without God. I even fell out of the faith once within the last five years and I went away for nearly 2 years. The first time I found the truth, it's all new...including prophecy which shocked me as a Catholic at the time. But I went against my family to follow the Lord. But when I became lukewarm the old vices which I took for granted as conquered, returned. I could do NOTHING to fend them off, just like in the years before I converted. THAT'S when I figured out how bankrupt I was on my own. And praise God, that in the year since, the Holy Spirit has strengthened me to re-overcome that vice, and victories in other long term battles as well.

On my best day, I'm lost without Christ Jesus.

Amen to that brother Smile. I struggle against sinful habits that I could have never fought against had I been more careful with my habits. But I have had victories, praise God Smile.

What a simple and straight forward way of putting it across to someone who doesn't believe in God. I liked this one, thank you
