When I see the sun glinting through the trees,
I imagine it's the sparkle of the tears in your eye
And the wind through the leaves is the whisper of your sigh.
I feel the touch of your hand in the sun on my face,
And hear in the birdsong the the tale of your grace.
And when I feel dwarfed by the wide-open sky
I know it is just you reminding me of your love
And protecting me from the abundance of pride.
The smell of flowers carried on the breeze,
I know is not as sweet as the incense burned somewhere above me.
The fragile pages of your Word, made from a once living tree
Bring to mind the death I'll soon die
And the new and beautiful use you'll put me to,
As the dead tree that lives again to disperse better seeds
Will grow the fruits of eternity.
And when I am cold or hungry I am grateful
That soon I won't want for anything.
The water that makes me so clean and relaxed of an evening,
Reveals to me that without you I am truly unclean,
and know nothing, nothing of peace.
In a room full of beloved voices and friendly faces,
I realize there is only one I need to hear and see.
Yet on the darkest, loneliest street, you are all around me.
Sun or shadow, indoors or out, and in joy or sorrow,
I doesn't matter, it all reminds me of you now.
